The M8 circular connector is a compact industrial sensor connector standardized under IEC 61076-2-104. With an 8mm locking thread and a compact cylindrical form factor, the M8 is the go-to interface for proximity sensors, photoelectric sensors, and compact I/O modules in factory automation. Available in 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8-pin configurations, the M8 connector uses a threaded coupling ring that provides IP67 environmental sealing and vibration-resistant mating. The 4-pin version is by far the most common, providing power and signal connections for standard industrial sensors. M8 connectors are manufactured by dozens of companies including Phoenix Contact, Binder, Murrelektronik, and TE Connectivity, and are interchangeable across manufacturers due to the IEC standardization. Their compact size makes them essential for space-constrained sensor installations on automated machinery.
